Practicality + Beauty = Perfection.

When it comes to beautiful clothes and accessories there are a few pieces in every wardrobe that get worn again and again. Often these fave items include t-shirts, walking sandals, t-shirt dresses, tote bags, and wedges. If these items are staples in your summer wardrobe, why not find ones that feel beautiful to you, too?

For example, amongst your beautiful clothes this summer you may have a simple white t-shirt. Or maybe your version of a summer staple tee is actually purple silk. While you peruse these picks I’ve curated for you think about what “beautiful clothes” actually mean to you and try to incorporate those elements to the staple pieces in your summer wardrobe.

The t-shirt dress

As far as beautiful clothes go, a simple t-shirt dress can get so much play in the summer. It’s an easy piece to pack for a weekend away, can be dressed up or down, and feels cool on hot summer days. My personal favourite style is very drapey and loose, but you might prefer one with a defined waist or some forgivingly-designed ruching.

 

The walking sandal

Finding a pretty summer walking sandal is a must. When I’m trying these sandal options on I like to think, “Would I be able to spend a day at the zoo in these?”. Perhaps you’ll never actually go to the zoo, but you get the idea. You want your pretty walking sandal to look great and stay comfortable for an entire day on your feet. I highly recommend a neutral colour like brown, black, white or a metallic so this shoe matches almost anything you wear.

 

The carry-all tote bag

A large tote bag is an easy way to truck your stuff around all summer. Be sure to think through what you’ll want to use this before you buy so you can choose the perfect size. I like to make sure my tote bag will fit my laptop, an extra set of clothes for my kid, and function as an overnight bag at times. Because I like to put all of these things into my tote it needs to be made of strong material like leather or canvas and the stitching needs to be well enforced.

 

The basic tee

Basic doesn’t need to mean boring. A well-fitting t-shirt will get pulled from your closet again and again. Do you prefer drapey or form-fitted? Solid colours or patterns? V-neck or crew neck? Just because someone says you have to have a white t-shirt in your closet doesn’t mean you actual do. Perhaps white tees are not beautiful clothes to you. If not, find a style that does feel beautiful to you and rock that the same way someone else would wear a white tee.

 

The wedge

Wedges make you feel even more feminine while keeping comfortable. They tend to be easier to walk distances in than other shoes (helpful for summer days spent outside). I’m into the idea of choosing a wedge that matches most of your wardrobe and keeping them with your flats by the door as an easy running-out-the-door choice.
