Let’s have a little chat about Betty, an imaginary client whose looking for a colourful capsule wardrobe but isn’t sure if this even exists. She’s found loads of visual examples of capsule wardrobes filled with black, white and gray with a few hints of brown for “colour”… but what about all the other amazing colours? You know, the ones in the rainbow? She’d like to include a few of those to bring excitement and joy to her life! Is this even possible when you’re creating a capsule wardrobe?
The answer is yes! That’s what we’re going to dive into today—a colourful capsule wardrobe that uses neutrals as a beautiful base and allows other colours to pop.
Let’s get to know a bit about Betty… she’s an average height woman in her late thirties looking for clothing she can wear for her casual lifestyle throughout the spring and summer. Betty loves the styles of Kate Middleton, Olivia Palermo and Cameron Diaz. She likes to accentuate her eyes and smile and feels a little self-conscious about her tummy area. She craves simplicity and wants the luxury of expressing herself through her style while having some fun. Her ideal style is described as elegant, timeless, down-to-earth, easy, and playful.
Here’s what I came up with for Betty!

Betty’s Colourful Capsule Wardrobe
Choosing clothing and accessories within one colour palette makes it easy to mix and match even when you only have a few pieces in your wardrobe. For this colourful capsule wardrobe even the reds and pinks go together well and create excitement and interest when paired together—just like Betty wants! The shapes are simple and elegant so she’ll have no trouble pairing them together.
Here are some ideas of outfits she might create from the pieces in her colourful capsule wardrobe.
