When it comes to holiday outfits there are a few categories that seem to come up over and over as “dress codes”, so today we’re going to offer nine ideas for a few of those dress codes. Specifically we’re going to focus in on ideas for casual holiday outfits, “festive” dress codes and more formal affairs.
If you need guidance deciding what outfits you actually need, you can take a peak at this great event planning advice.
Casual Holiday Outfits
Casual holiday parties come up so often, it’s nice to be prepared. You could really add a little sparkle to any casual outfits you love, but these three outfits will help you for those parties where you’re playing with your family outside (and then in) and any other casual affairs that might cross your path.
holiday outfit idea #1
sweater dress + ribbed cotton or wool tights + everyday earrings + everyday necklace + plaid winter scarf + ankle booties
holiday outfit idea #2
favourite cream or white sweater {if the sweater has bling even better!} + favourite jeans + tall boots + statement earrings + statement ring
holiday outfit idea #3
sweater tunic + leggings + pendant necklace + stud earrings + snow boots + backpack
“Festive” Holiday Outfits
“Festive” (or something of the like) is a dress code you see a lot around the holiday season. This dress code is vague, which usually means most things go. To be safe it’s best to try and design your outfit without jeans (although jeans are often “acceptable” in this dress code). If a host offers a vague dress code they need to be okay with their guests wearing a whole range of outfits. (p.s. we “get” this dress code and can offer perfectly personalized options for you, if you wish.)

Hi.
Where can I find the ankle boots on outfit number 1?
Wendy Woods says
Hi May, this article was written a while ago so those boots likely aren’t available any longer. Everlane has something similar though.
